Today I walked about 22 miles through the Lehigh Valley from Easton to Allentown.
A little shorter than my typical day and it was entirely urban. The Lehigh Valley is town running into town. This used to be steel manufacturing country I believe.
You can see the remnants all around. Martin Tower sticks out for miles as the tallest building in the whole valley. Martin tower is the former Bethlehem Steel headquarters. You may remember Bethlehem Steel from an episode of Madmen where Pete oversteps his authority. It is empty now, apparently full of, or in the process of having asbestos removed if the funding came through so perhaps it can be developed into something useful.
As you get closer to the Lehigh river I crossed bridges over tracks that have been stripped of their rails, and then you come over the river and see the rusting buildings of Lehigh Structural Steel Company
Below you can see how far the original plant extended.
Also empty is a previous generation of Taco Bells, the design I prefer.
That saddened me.
Also in the Lehigh Valley spiders are hard at work terrifying pedestrians in the exact same manner as I saw on Day 2 . Camping out on crosswalk buttons waiting to terrify someone. What gives spiders? Why you gotta play so dirty.
Still a good day!

You’re close-ish to where I spent a good chunk of my adult life! Great job so far and I’m excited to read more about where the Roam takes you!
4 days out and you have covered the distance of 5 days…
I’m getting really envious of the calories you’re burning each day. You’ve shown us a guaranteed way to lose weight. We have no more excuses.
Well… this morning I ate at cracker barrel and tonight I attempted to eat a 20 inch meatball sub, thats 12 meatballs. I only ate 15 inches though. Not sure I’m gonna lose weight. Might build some muscle though! Trying to get enough protein.
