Off Season

Fall has come and brought 50 degree rainy days with 30 mph winds, a hankering for meat pies, hot spiced drinks and scarves. This is my time of year!

I never go to the beach in the summer. I’ve lived 10 miles, just a short journey on the A or the F train, from the beach for 3 years and not once have swam in the ocean, or dug my toes into the sand. The beach is better in winter. The solitude suits me as much as the weather does.

The empty expanse of sand is the perfect setting for a long lonely walks, the type I prefer.
A couple weeks ago I was at Riis Beach with Charles Ludeke and Jake Lore working on a project together.

I snapped a few photos for fun while shooting video. I’ll be going back soon when it hopefully becomes colder, rainier, snowier.

Charles found his inner child while we were waiting for the right light.

Jake was also courageous, and possibly foolhardy enough to brave the waters. I got a scare when I saw him dive into a wave and disappear for 30 seconds when he popped up as a dot farther out in the water.

Luckily he came back.  My worries proving unfounded and unnecessary for someone who is probably an experienced swimmer.

Can’t wait to return!
