Last weekend I convinced Caitlin to come with me on a walk to Coney Island, about 10 miles from our apartment in BedStuy. At the end of that road is the reward of the original Nathan’s…
…and it is to die for, also they have the cheapest draft beer of any restaurant ever. We loaded up with a bacon cheese dog each, cheese fries to split, and being insatiable I also added a peppers and onions dog for myself and a Coney Island Lager to drink.
The rides are all open on weekends and after Memorial Day they will be open on weekdays as well. The boardwalk was packed with families, people were swimming, it was grand.
I love Coney Island.
We did find this heartbreaking note carved into the Steeplechase Pier and dated the previous day.
I’m going to miss New York a lot, Brooklyn a ton, Caitlin a kiloton, and Nathan’s hot dogs infinitely but I’m sure there are some damn good hot dogs, burgers and sandwiches out on the road that will be pretty great and are worth experiencing.

Hi, Tim, I met your dad at the healthplex today and he told me of your new adventure. How exciting. I will follow you as I can but I am not real computer savvy. My son is Dr. Jeff Sanders, with whom your mom worked before Jeff moved. Be safe on your travels and take lots of pictures. Maybe they will show up in National Geographic someday. Pat Sanders
